Jim McLain has been working with wood for over 40 years, and has been specializing in turned wood and vessels for the last 20. An early inspiration for these beautiful works came from taking a ceramics class. While he loved working with his hands it just wasn’t the right medium and Jim was attracted to the warmth of wood as a way of giving new life to trees.
Primarily self-taught, Jim studied with members of the New Mexico Wood Turners Association, and now teaches new members this very complex art.
Jim has had seven one man Canyon Road exhibitions at Marigold Arts from 2008 to 2014.
